Promotion of Heritage Management
The office for the Promotion of Heritage Management â€“ West (PHM) is a product of a regional community initiative of the Local Economic Development component of the European Union / Council of Europe Joint Project, Support to the Promotion of Cultural Diversity (PCDK). It intends to identify the most appropriate strategies to advance the objectives in the context of developing a sustainable heritage tourism component within an overall tourism strategy for the region. The PHM West is considered a community based and independent think-tank group for Kosovo West where it conducts extensive research and collects data about the region, and carries on comparative analysis, feeding into long term strategies and plans developed locally. Through developed capacity at the local level, these plans are prepared by the local stakeholders for the local communities, in accordance with the laws and regulations set by the central authorities. The PHM-West further establishes and maintains linkages with local and international donors, other regions in Kosovo and central authorities in order to promote the protection, maintenance and effective management of heritage assets and practices in Kosovo West. Through ongoing monitoring, assessment and increased community involvement, the office plays a catalyst and coordination role through outreach to all communities and stakeholders throughout Kosovo West in order to ensure active involvement of stakeholders in the development and implementation of Heritage Plan.
